CHOCOLATE TORTE 
2 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 (16 oz.) can tart red pitted pie cherries, drained
1/2 to 3/4 c. jam

Melt butter and chocolate. Add eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and flour sifted with baking powder. Beat with electric mixer 3 1/2 minutes. Stir in nuts and cherries. Pour into two (8 inch) round layer cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool. Spread jam between layers and frost.

FROSTING FOR CHOCOLATE TORTE:

1 (6 oz.) pkg. semisweet chocolate
2 tbsp. butter
Cream or milk

Melt chocolate chips and butter. Add cream or milk to thin to spreading consistency.
