MAE'S CHOCOLATE MACAROONS | |
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk 4 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 2 (4 oz.) cans shredded coconut 1/2 c. chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) Grease 2 large cookie sheets. On top of double boiler, combine milk, chocolate and salt. Cook over hot water, stirring frequently until chocolate melts and mixture thickens, about 12-15 minutes. Remove from heat, add vanilla, coconut, then nuts. Mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoons, one inch apart, on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove at once with spatula to sheet of waxed paper to cool. Makes 3 1/2 dozen. |
