DUTCH APPLE CAKE 
2 c. sifted plain flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. butter Crisco
1 egg, beaten
2/3 c. milk
4 to 6 apples, peeled, cored and cut into eighths
1/2 c. sugar, mixed with 1 tsp. cinnamon

Sift dry ingredients together. Work in Crisco. Mix to a light dough with egg and milk. Press into greased shallow baking pan. Top with the apples by pressing down into the dough. Sprinkle with the sugar and cinnamon mixture.

Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes. Cut into squares and serve hot with sweetened whipped cream.
