RAISIN SPREAD COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1 c. hot water
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. raisins
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts

Bring sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, hot water, shortening and raisins to a boil; allow to cool. Add flour, baking powder, salt and nuts.

Spread on greased cookie sheet; bake about 30 minutes in 350 degree oven. While still warm, ice with a thin mixture of powdered sugar, vanilla and milk.
