ELLIE'S COLE SLAW 
4 c. cabbage
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vinegar
1/4 tsp. celery seed
3-4 tbsp. salad dressing or mayonnaise
2 med. carrots, grated

Grate cabbage on medium sized openings of grater and soak in cold water for 10 minutes.

In mixing bowl, put powdered onion, salt, sugar, vinegar, celery seed and salad dressing. Mix thoroughly.

Drain the cabbage well and add it and the grated carrots. Toss, then chill before serving. The slaw is better if it is made the day before serving. Makes 6-8 servings. It goes well with meats but complements fish particularly.
