GRANDMA'S CREAM PUFFS | |
1 c. water 1/2 c. butter 1 c. flour 4 eggs Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat eggs; set aside. Heat water and butter to boil. Turn off heat. Stir in flour and beat with a fork until mixture leaves side of pan. Add eggs and continue to mix until mixture is smooth. (Mixture will be lumpy at first as you add the eggs; don't fret. Continue beating with a fork, the mixture will become smooth.) Drop by 1/4 cup onto cookie sheet about 2-3 inches apart. Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown, approximately 30-45 minutes. Better too brown than not baked enough. Let cool. Remove doughy inside of cream puff by making a slit in the side and using fingers to remove it. When you are ready to serve, fill with your favorite filling. Chocolate pudding or fresh strawberry pie filling are our favorites. You can use whipped topping mixed with chopped fruit, chocolate mousse, whatever. Sprinkle top of finished cream puff with powdered sugar for garnish. So delicate, yet so easy. |
