HARVEST TORTE 
4 c. diced unpeeled tart apples
1/2 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. coarsely chopped pecans or walnuts
1 c. Concord grape jam
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tbsp. melted butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

In mixing bowl, combine apples, dates, pecans, grape jam, egg, butter and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to fruit mixture. Stir thoroughly, but do not beat. Pour into greased 8-inch square baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes until apples are tender. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream. Makes 8 servings.
