DINNER ROLLS | |
1 pkg. dry yeast 1 1/2 c. warm water 5 tsp. sugar 2 tbsp. shortening 5 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 egg (opt.) Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let set about 5 minutes. Sift the flour and salt. Add shortening and eggs. Stir in the yeast and water. Knead until smooth. Put in greased bowl. Cover with cloth and let rise until double in bulk. Grease pan and knead bread and make into rolls. Let rise about 1 hour. Heat oven to 400 degrees and bake about 10 minutes, until brown. Brush top with soft butter. Serve while hot. |
