OLD-FASHIONED SODA CRACKERS
2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter (1/2 stick)
3/4 c. buttermilk

Combine flour, soda, 1/4 teaspoon salt. With pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Add buttermilk, mix well. Knead into a ball. Roll out 1/8 inch thick and cut with 3-inch round cutter. Place on lightly greased baking sheets. Prick tops several times with the tines of a fork. Sprinkle with some of the remaining salt. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes until lightly browned on edges. Cool baked crackers completely and store in airtight containers. Makes 20 (3 inch) crackers.
