APPLE SLICE DESSERT 
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. lard
1 egg, separated
Milk
2/3 c. corn flakes, crushed
5 c. sliced, peeled apples
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Sift together flour, sugar and salt. Cut in lard with pastry blender. Put egg yolk into measuring cup, and add milk to make 2/3 cup. Add to lard mixture, mix just enough to shape into balls. Roll out half to 15x11 rectangle.

Transfer to jelly roll pan, cover bottom with crushed corn flakes, then apples, sugar and cinnamon. Roll out other half for top crust. Pinch edges together. Beat egg white stiff, spread on top crust. Bake in hot oven 400 degrees, 40 minutes.

While hot drizzle glaze over top: Mix 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons lemon juice and enough water to make a thin icing.
