CLAM FRITTERS 
1 3/4 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 c. milk
1 tbsp. melted shortening

Sift flour. Add baking powder and salt and sift again. In a bowl, combine egg, milk, and shortening. Add the sifted flour mixture and stir until smooth. Add 1 pint clams, finely chopped. Blend well. Drop by spoonfuls in frying fat until browned.
