FROSTY STRAWBERRY SQUARES | |
1 c. flour 1/4 c. packed brown sugar 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1/2 c. butter (butter) Stir together sugar, flour, nuts and butter with pastry blender. Spread in a 13x9x2 inch pan. Bake in 350 degree oven 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from oven and cool. Remove 1/4 of mixture for topping. Pat remaining mixture firmly in pan. 2 egg whites 3/4 c. sugar 2 tbsp. lemon juice 1 c. whipping cream (whipped) 1 (10 oz.) pkg. strawberries, partially thawed or 2 c. fresh berries In large mixing bowl, beat egg whites until stiff. Add sugar and berries. Beat 2 minutes at low speed. Add lemon juice and continue beating at high speed for 10-12 minutes, until stiff. Fold in cream that has been whipped. Spread over crumb mixture in pan. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture over top. Freeze 6 hours or longer. |
