COOKIE CUT-OUTS 
1 c. butter
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
4 1/2 c. flour

FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter
5 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1/4 to 1/2 c. liquid (milk, juice, etc.)
Various candy flavorings, optional

Cookies: Cream the shortening, butter and sugar. Add eggs and sour cream. Mix well. Add soda, baking powder, vanilla, salt and flour. Chill and roll out, dusting liberally with additional flour when needed. Bake at 375 degrees until barely golden.

Frosting: Cream butter. Add sugar and beat well until mixture is smooth. Add liquid, a few tablespoons at a time, until it is of spreading consistency.
