SCOTS MINCE 
1 lb. best ground beef, firmly packed
1 med. onion, peeled & sliced
Salt & pepper
1 1/4 c. beef stock
2 bay leaves (opt.)
1 tbsp. oatmeal
1/2 oz. drippings

Melt the drippings in a pan, add the onion and fry it for a few minutes. Stir in the mince and brown it carefully, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Mix in the salt, pepper and stock together with the oatmeal and bay leaves. Simmer for about 45 minutes or until the meat is cooked through. Serve with mashed potatoes.
