EPICUREAN GREEN BEANS | |
1 lb. fresh green beans, cut in 1 inch pieces (2 c.) 2 tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. salt Dash of pepper 4 slices bacon, crisp cooked, drained, and crumbled 1 c. fresh mushrooms, sliced 1 tbsp. chopped onion 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp. dried thyme, crushed 2 c. milk 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen patty shells (6 shells), baked Cook beans, covered, in small amount of boiling, salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. In 2 quart saucepan, cook mushrooms and onion in butter until tender. Blend in flour, salt, thyme, and pepper. Add milk, all at once. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and bubbles. Stir in beans; heat through. Add bacon. Spoon hot mixture into prepared patty shells. If desired, garnish with additional crumbled bacon. Makes 6 servings. |
