1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 2/3 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, and eggs. In a separate bowl mix flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.

Stir into shortening mixtures; add vanilla. Roll into small balls, then roll into the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Place about 2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Yield; 5 dozen.
