TOMATO FRITTERS 
1 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
2/3 c. milk
Lg. firm, ripe tomatoes
Bacon drippings

Sift flour, baking powder and salt into bowl. Add egg and milk. Stir until smooth. Slice tomatoes fairly thick, dip each slice in batter, covering well, and then fry in bacon drippings. Fry a deep golden crusty brown before turning over. Do not crowd in pan.
