GRANDMA'S HOT WATER GINGERBREAD | |
2 1/2 c. sifted enriched flour 3/4 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. ginger 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. Grandma's Molasses 1 egg, unbeaten 1 c. boiling water Sift together first seven ingredients. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add molasses and mix well. Stir in 1/2 cup sifted dry ingredients. Beat in egg. Add the remaining dry ingredients, alternately with hot water. Beat 1/2 minute. Pour batter into a well greased and lightly floured 8x10x2 inch pan. Bake 45 to 50 minutes in a moderate oven 9350 degrees). Serves 10 to 12. |
