SUMMER LOAF 
1 round sourdough French loaf
1 sm. yellow onion, chopped
1 cube butter
1 tbsp. poppy seeds
10 slices Swiss cheese (cut in half lengthwise)
10 slices boiled ham (cut in half lengthwise)
8-10 slices raw bacon

Cut slices every 2 inches in French bread, but do not cut completely through the bottom. Mix butter, onion and poppy seeds and spread on both sides of bread. Sandwich two ham slices in two pieces of cheese. Place in each cut in bread.

When bread is full of ham and cheese, lay bacon slices across top of loaf in opposite directions. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bacon is cooked and cheese is melted. Cut and serve warm or cooled.
