3 sticks butter (3/4 c.)
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one at a time beating well. Sift flour, add baking powder, sift again. Add flour and milk alternately to mixture. Add vanilla. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Put in cold oven. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
