RED VELVET CAKE 
2 tbsp. Nestle cocoa
1 bottle red food coloring
1 bottle water
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 1/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda

Make paste with the cocoa, food coloring and water. Set aside. Cream Crisco and sugar well. Add eggs and cream well. Add food coloring and cocoa mixture. Gradually add flour and vanilla. Mix well. Remove beaters. Add the vinegar. Mix with spoon or spatula well. Add the soda; mix well with spoon or spatula. Pour into greased and floured cake pan, 9 x 11.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean in 350°F oven.

Frosting For Red Velvet Cake:

4 tbsp. flour
dash of salt
1 c. can cream
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix flour and salt. Gradually add can cream, mixing to keep from lumping. Cook until thick. Cool. Add the Crisco, sugar and vanilla. Beat well until thick. Then put on Red Velvet Cake.
