ROLLED SUGAR COOKIES 
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
6 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. milk
1/3 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg

Stir together flour, baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Beat butter and shortening for 30 seconds; add sugar and beat till fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture, beating till well combined. Cover and chill at least 3 hours. Working with 1/2 of the dough at a time, on a lightly floured surface, roll to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8 minutes or till done. Makes 36 to 48.
