1 egg

1 c. crushed pineapple

3 1/2 c. flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Mix shortening, sugar and egg. Stir in pineapple with juice (1 cup). Sift together and stir in flour, soda, salt and nutmeg. Drop rounded teaspoonsful 2 inches apart. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Spread thin layer of 4X sugar over cookies while cooling.
