MEATBALLS IN APPLE-TOMATO SAUCE 
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 lb. ground pork
4 tsp. grated onion
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/8t tsp. allspice
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1 egg
2 (8 oz. each) cans tomato sauce
1 c. applesauce
1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
Flour for coating meatballs
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vegetable oil
1 clove garlic, crushed in garlic press

Mix meat, onion, egg, 1/4 cup each of tomato sauce and applesauce, bread crumbs, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon pepper, allspice and nutmeg. Shape into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Coat with flour. Combine brown sugar and remaining tomato sauce and applesauce in an electric cooker. Cover and cook on low.

Meanwhile, brown meatballs in oil in a large skillet to which the garlic has been added. After browning on all sides, place the meatballs into the sauce in the cooker. Cover and cook on low 4 to 6 hours. Serves 6.
