HOWARD'S REAL CORNBREAD
This is REAL cornbread and one can hold it in your hand and eat it without it falling apart as it does not have a lot of flour and sugar in it like MOST other recipes have. Delicious with butter or crumbled up in a glass of sweet milk! The old timers love it!!

1 1/2 cups cornmeal
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
3 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Sift and mix all DRY ingredients together in large mixing bowl. In a small bowl, beat eggs together with a fork or spoon, add oil and stir well. Add the buttermilk and mix well. Add the liquid ingredients to the large bowl and mix all together!

Pour mixture into an 8x8-inch glass baking pan. Bake in 400°F oven for 20-25 minutes on middle rack,

When timer is done, check with a toothpick in middle of corn bread. If clean, it's all done, if not bake just a little longer!

Set out and allow to cool. This is best while still warm, but can be reheated easily in the microwave oven!

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

Yup! This is the real deal. Delicious. Can add a little finely diced onion or jalapeno. Howard... please... submit any other recipes you might have. Thanks for posting this one!
