POOR MAN'S COOKIES | |
2 c. raisins 1 c. shortening 2 1/2 c. water 2 eggs 2 c. sugar 4 c. flour 2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1 c. chopped nuts Boil raisins, shortening and water for 10 minutes and let cool. Cream eggs and sugar. Add to the raisin mixture that has been cooled. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into cookie sheet with sides. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Be careful not to over bake. GLAZE: Mix a few drops of milk with powdered sugar. Spread on cool cookies and cut into squares. |
