BANANA NUT TEA BREAD | |
1/4 c. soft shortening 3/4 c. sugar 1 egg 2/3 c. mashed bananas (about 2) 3 tbsp. sour milk (or buttermilk) 2 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. chopped nuts Mix together shortening and sugar. Beat egg in thoroughly. Stir in mashed bananas and sour milk. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt and stir into shortening-sugar mixture with nuts. Pour batter into 9x5x3 inch greased bread pan. Bake 1 hour 10 minutes in 300 degree F. preheated oven. To sour 3 tablespoons milk add 1 teaspoon white vinegar. |
