BARBECUED LENTIL BURGERS 
1 c. lentils
3 c. water
1 onion, chopped fine
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 stalks celery, finely chopped
1 carrot, grated
1/2 c. bulgur wheat
3 tbsp. ketchup or tomato sauce
2 tsp. chili powder

Place lentils and water in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Add onion, garlic, celery, and carrot. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes. Add remaining ingredients. Cook an additional 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Shape into patties and cook on a non-stick griddle until browned (about 15 minutes). Serve on whole wheat buns with a variety of condiments. Makes 10.
