CHRISTMAS SUGAR COOKIES 
4 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
3 tsp. vanilla

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Beat until fluffy in large bowl: butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add sifted ingredients gradually to butter mixture. Blend. Roll into large ball. Seal in tupperware bowl and chill in refrigerator at least 1 hour, longer if possible.

Return half of dough to refrigerator to stay chilled. Roll out on floured pastry sheet 1/8 inch thick. Cut into shapes and place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes 4 dozen cookies. These cookies decorate beautifully. Use colored sugars, etc. The dough and cookies freeze well. Do not use self rising flour in this recipe, it does not taste the same.
