CHRISTMAS SUGAR COOKIES (ROLLED) 
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1/4 c. milk
3 c. flour
1 3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix together sugar and shortening. Add egg and milk; mix. Add dry ingredients and vanilla; mix thoroughly. Roll 1/4" thick on floured table. Cut in desired Christmas shapes. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes approximately. Yield: 3 1/2 dozen, amount depends on the size of your cutters.
