BECKY'S CUCUMBER PICKLE 
1 qt. sliced young cucumbers
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. alum
Vinegar to fill jar
1 c. plus sugar
1 tsp. pickling spice

Slice cucumbers into cleaned sterilized jar. Add salt and alum and fill to 1" of top with vinegar. Cover top with Saran Wrap and then screw top and ring. Allow to stand 6 weeks or more (at least 6 weeks). When need pickle, pour all vinegar off and fill with sugar and the pickling spice. Cover and allow to stand 2 or 3 days before using.
