CUCUMBER PICKLE | |
1 gallon glass large mouth jar 1 gallon whole cucumbers 1/2 gallon white vinegar 7 c. sugar 12 drops oil of cloves Wash cucumbers and fill the glass jar with whole cucumbers, completely full. Cover cucumbers with vinegar and put top on jar lightly. Mark your calendar and let the cucumbers stand in the vinegar for 7 weeks. After 7 weeks, pour the vinegar off and DISCARD it. Take cucumbers out of jar and slice them crossways in 1/4 inch slices and put them back in same jar. Place the 7 cups of sugar and the 12 drops of oil of cloves over the sliced cucumbers. Pickle is ready to use in 1 week. Refrigerate if desired. |
