1 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
1 c. water
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tbsp. cooking oil
Several drops food coloring

Stir all dry ingredients together until mixed well. Mix water and oil together and add to dry ingredients. Put in saucepan over medium heat and stir constantly while cooking. Dough will pull away from sides whenever it has cooked sufficiently. Put on wax paper and let cool slightly. Add food coloring and let children knead in coloring with their hands.
