ORANGE ALASKA CHIFFON CAKE 
Lemon or orange cake mix - prepared as directed. Divide into 2 pans.

RICH ORANGE FILLING:

1 1/2 c. sugar
4 1/2 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. orange juice
2 tsp. lemon juice
3 tsp. butter

Bring to a rolling boil and boil 1 minute, stirring constantly. Blend in 4 egg yolks slightly beaten. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Cool. Cover first layer of cake with part of filling, put top layer on.

MERINGUE:

4 egg whites
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 c. sugar

Beat to stiff peaks. Spread meringue over cake; place in oven to brown. Drizzle the remaining amount of filling over meringue, letting it run down sides.
