SAUSAGE AND EGG STRATA | |
8 slices bread (crusts removed) 1 1/2 lbs. sausage (bulk), browned 1/2 lb. cheddar or Swiss cheese, grated 2 green onions, chopped 4 oz. can mushrooms, sliced 6 eggs, beaten 2 c. milk 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 1/2 tsp. mustard, prepared Soft butter 1/2 c. green peppers, chopped Spread butter on bread. In a well greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish or larger, put layer of bread, sausage, cheese and vegetables ending with cheese. Beat together eggs, milk and seasonings until blended. Pour over layers. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake at 300°F for one hour. Let stand about 10 minutes before cutting. This makes a great dish for breakfast when you have overnight guests. |
