1 1/3 c. sifted cake flour
2 lbs. powdered sugar, sifted or very smooth
2 2/3 c. white shortening (Crisco)
2/3 c. egg whites, unbeaten
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 to 3/4 tsp. vanilla or almond

Mix shortening and sugar. Beat very well. Add cake flour. Beat well. Add egg whites. Beat until light and fluffy. This frosting is easy to work with.
