Barely cover 8 or 10 cups of pears with water and cook until tender (not too much). Using 2 cups of this water and 4 cups sugar, cook to heavy syrup state. Let pears drain well while making syrup. Place pears in syrup and cook until glazed. Slice lemon for flavor. |
