1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Cream shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla together until light and fluffy. Mix together flour, salt and baking soda; stir into creamed mixture. Blend well. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop from teaspoon 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to cool. Makes 3 dozen.
