CANADIAN "TOURTIERE" 
Pastry for 2 crust 9 inch pie
2 lbs. ground pork or ground beef - or 1 lb. of each
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper or seasoned pepper
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 c. water

Combine all ingredients and cook over low heat for one hour, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and add 1/2 cup finely crushed saltines. Mix well.

Fill bottom crust with mixture and cover with top crust, cutting slits for escape of steam. Bake in 400 degree oven for 25 minutes or until crust is golden. 6-8 servings.

Popular at Christmas and New Year, but good anytime served with ketchup.
