LENTIL SOUP 
12 oz. lentils
1 c. smoked ham, chopped finely
1 ham bone, if available
1 1/3 c. chopped celery
1 1/3 c. chopped carrots
1 lg. onion
1 tsp. garlic powder
3 (16 oz.) cans tomatoes or sauce
1/2 lb. sausage, smoked in links

Wash lentils thoroughly; place in large saucepan and cover with water and simmer with ham bone for 1 1/2 hours or until tender. Add onion, carrots, celery, garlic powder, ham and sausage which has been sliced in very thin slices (pieces). Add tomatoes and simmer for 1 more hour. Serve hot.
