2 c. flour
2 c. buttermilk
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda

Beat egg a little, add small quantity of milk. Sift in flour, salt, sugar, soda and baking powder; add rest of milk gradually beating out lumps. Fry on hot griddle with small quantity of lard.
