OLD-TIME ICEBOX COOKIES 
1 c. butter, softened
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nutmeats, chopped (optional)

Cream butter and sugars, beat in eggs 1 at a time, soda and vanilla. Mix in flour. Form into rolls wrap in plastic or wax paper and refrigerate overnight. Slice about 1/4 inch thick and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes until edges brown.
