KRIS KRINGLE SUGAR COOKIES | |
1 c. butter 2 c. sugar 3 eggs 1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 2 tbsp. milk 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla About 5 c. flour Cream butter and sugar together until thoroughly blended. Add vanilla, milk, soda and well beaten eggs; then salt and cream of tartar sifted with about 3 cups flour. Add more flour as necessary to make a dough that is easily handled. Chill to make easier to roll. Roll out on a floured pastry cloth and cut to desired shapes. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheets in a 400 degree oven for 8-15 minutes according to thickness. Lift carefully from pans to cake racks to cool. Do not bake too brown. Note: These are good frosted; also a few ground nuts may be rolled in the dough. |
