ALMOND BREAD 
5 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
2 tbsp. plus 1 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. oil
2 1/2 c. milk
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 c. slivered almonds

Mix together the dry ingredients. Add the remaining ingredients and mix gently; pour into 2 greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Makes 2 loaves.

Variation: For Raisin/Rum Bread: Omit 1 1/2 tsp. almond extract. Instead use 1 1/2 tsp. rum extract and exchange slivered almonds for 1 cup raisins.
