CHOCOLATE FUDGE BROWNIES 
1/3 c. shortening
2 sq. chocolate (can use 4 tbsp. cocoa and 2 tbsp. shortening)
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Melt together shortening and chocolate. Beat in sugar and eggs. Sift together and stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Add nuts, if desired. Spread in greased and floured 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan. Bake until top has crust, about 30 to 35 minutes. Do not overbake. Oven temperature is 350 degrees.
