MY MOTHER'S MOLASSES SUGAR
COOKIES
 
1 1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
2 eggs
4 1/2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt

Beat together shortening, sugar, molasses and egg, until fluffy. Combine dry ingredients, mix thoroughly with beaten mixture. Chill. Form dough into balls the size of large walnuts. Roll in sugar, place on ungreased sheet. Flatten slightly with fork (twice at right angles as for peanut butter cookie). Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
