BAKED IN SHORTCAKE 
1 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. sliced fresh fruit of choice
1 recipe Crumble Topping

CRUMBLE TOPPING:

Mix 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup sugar. Cut in 1/4 cup butter. Add 1/4 cup chopped nuts.

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, egg and butter. Beat 2 minutes. Pour into greased 8 inch square pan. Top with sliced fruit; sprinkle on Crumble Topping. Bake in 375 degree oven for 35 minutes.

Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream as a dessert; serve cold as a breakfast cake. Ingredients can be doubled and baked in 9x13 pan, baked until tester comes out dry.

Note: When using fresh sliced apples, I sprinkle cinnamon over slices before adding Crumble Topping.
