RED VELVET CAKE 
4 (1/2 oz.) bottles red food coloring
3 tbsp. Nestles Quik

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
Color mixture

Beat for 10 minutes. Add 1 cup buttermilk and slowly add 2 1/4 cups flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 tablespoon vinegar and 1 teaspoon baking soda. Mix lightly by hand. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until done.

FROSTING:

1 stick (1/4 lb.) butter
4 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. Crisco
1 c. white sugar
3 tbsp. flour
2/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat 12 minutes with mixer. If you want all red to go with the red velvet cake, add red food coloring.
