WALNUT CAKE 
9 eggs
1 c. bread crumbs or zwieback
1 c. walnuts
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Syrup:

1 c. sugar
1 c. water
1/2 c. lemon juice

Boil syrup ingredients 12 minutes after it starts boiling.

Beat egg yolks with sugar. Add all dry ingredients. Lastly fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Put in greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 400°F about 1/2 hour. Cool. Cut in diamond shapes and pour warm syrup over it.
