OLD FASHION ICE CREAM CAKE 
1 box cake mix (your choice)
About 2 pts. ice cream (1/2 of 1/2 gal.)
1 lg. Cool Whip

Make cake according to package directions making 3 layers. Cake must cool completely. Open box of ice cream on three sides. Slice with a large knife in about 1/2 inch slices. Put each slice on cake as cut. Place and cut to cover the layer. Work quickly. Blend with knife to smooth out. Then place layer over and repeat ice cream. Put top layer on. Cover with Cool Whip on all sides and top. Freeze. About 10 minutes before serving time take out of freezer.

You may add food coloring to Cool Whip to make pink or blue, etc. frosting.
